Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies Bitlane uses. Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser; "similar technologies" here means the browser's local storage.
We use no advertising cookies. The cookies on our dashboard, and the website's own, are needed for them to work, so they don't need your consent. On the website and the dashboard we also use Google Analytics, only if you accept it in their cookie notice. The widget's session id is set on our customers' websites, under their control (see below).

Google Analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, the website loads Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to count visits and see which pages are read and how visitors arrive. It records the pages you view, a few actions (following a link to the dashboard, sending the contact form, changing language), the page you came from, your browser, device and screen size, and your approximate location (country and city), derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics doesn't store. We keep this data for 2 months and use it only for statistics about the website: no advertising, and Google signals and ad personalisation are off. Google may process it in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If you refuse, or until you choose, Google Analytics doesn't load and no data is sent to Google. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser to tell people from bots, without advertising cookies. It may store its own data in your browser for that check. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The dashboard also keeps a few preferences in your browser's local storage: whether the sidebar is collapsed, whether the assistant is pinned, unpublished drafts of a widget's design, and whether you accepted or refused analytics (bitlane_cookie_consent). They never leave your browser.
Google Analytics on the dashboard. If you accept it in the dashboard's cookie notice, the dashboard loads Google Analytics as the website does, with the same settings and retention (above). It records which kind of page you open (for example "an engine's index", never the names or ids of your projects, engines or indexes, and never the parameters in its address), a few actions in your account (signing up; creating a project, engine, index or widget; publishing a widget; inviting someone; connecting an app; starting a checkout, a trial or a plan, with the plan and its price; changing, cancelling or resuming it), your browser, device and approximate location. So that a plan is counted once, the browser tab remembers it in its session storage. The dashboard's administration pages are never measured.
Sign-in, sign-up and password reset are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, as on the website.
Payments open our payment provider's checkout, which uses its own cookies; see its policies.
Search widget on our customers' websites
The Bitlane widget runs on the websites of stores that use Bitlane. With its analytics on, the widget keeps a random session id in the first-party cookie and local storage entry bitlane_session, which ends after 30 minutes without activity. It measures which results are clicked and bought, for the store's search reports. It contains no personal details.
The store decides whether the widget's analytics run and how it asks its visitors for consent: it can keep them off until the visitor agrees, and the widget follows the visitor's choice where the store uses Google Consent Mode. See the store's own cookie policy.
Managing cookies
To change your choice on analytics cookies at any time, use Cookie Preferences at the bottom of every page of the website, or Cookie preferences in the dashboard's account menu; refusing deletes the Google Analytics cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the necessary ones, signing in to the dashboard won't work.
