Introducing Bitlane: fast, managed search for online stores
Why we built Bitlane, what it does, and how a store goes from a slow search box to results as you type in minutes.
October 14, 2026 · The Bitlane team
Search is where a shopper tells you exactly what they want. When it answers with nothing, with the wrong products, or after a long pause, that shopper leaves. Yet on most online stores the search box is the part nobody has time to fix: the platform's built-in search matches words literally, a typo returns zero results, and filters reload the whole page.
Bitlane is our answer: fast, managed search for online stores and websites, ready in minutes and kept running by us.
Results as you type
Bitlane answers while your customer is still typing, and it forgives the way people actually search:
- Typo tolerance: "runing shoes" still finds running shoes.
- Synonyms: teach it that "sneakers" and "trainers" mean the same thing.
- Filters and facets: brand, color, size, price ranges, in stock, with counts that update instantly.
- Sorting and ranking rules: decide what comes first, from relevance to price to your own business rules.
Everything is configurable from the dashboard, index by index, without touching code.
A search widget that fits your store
Most stores don't want to build a search interface from scratch. Bitlane comes with a search widget: a fast search window with results, filters and product cards. The plugin for your store adds it for you, and any other site needs just one script tag.
You design it in the dashboard with a live preview on sample data: the layout, the filters, the cards for products and for other content like pages or posts, your brand colors and logo. It's available in your customers' language, and developers can also build their own interface on the same headless elements.
Connect your store in one click
There's nothing to wire up by hand. Install the Bitlane plugin for your store, connect it to your Bitlane account, and it:
- creates the search engine and the widget for you;
- sends your products, and if you like your pages, posts and other content, in every language of your store;
- keeps them in sync as you add, edit or remove products;
- adds the widget to your storefront.
We're adding plugins for more store platforms all the time. Whatever your setup, a custom stack, an ERP or a headless store, you can also send data through the API, upload files, or point Bitlane at a product feed (CSV, JSON, NDJSON or XML) that it imports on a schedule.
See what your customers search for
Search tells you what your customers want, so Bitlane shows it to you. The analytics in the dashboard show the top searches, the searches that find nothing (often a missing product or synonym), which results get clicked, and, when your store reports them, which searches lead to additions to the cart and orders.
You decide how this respects your visitors' privacy: the widget can wait for consent, follows Google Consent Mode, and its analytics never store visitors' IP addresses, names or contact details.
Managed for you, in the EU or the US
You don't run servers, plan upgrades or watch disks. We host your search engines, upgrade them without interrupting search, and move them between servers when they need more room. Your data stays in the region you choose, the European Union or the United States, and our legal pages explain exactly what we process and how.
Teams work together in projects with roles and permissions, two-factor authentication, and an audit log of important changes. Larger customers can have dedicated servers of their own.
Try it free
Every plan starts with a free trial: connect your store, try Bitlane on your own catalogue, and decide when you see the results. Plans and what they include are on the pricing page.
